Meet Barnabas — the First Advocate
Long before there were missionary advocates, there was Barnabas. He never gets top billing in the story — but the mission doesn't move without him.
The early church called him the Son of Encouragement. When the work needed funding, he sold a field and laid the money down (Acts 4). When the church was still terrified of a former persecutor named Paul, it was Barnabas who vouched for him and brought him in (Acts 9). When the believers in Antioch needed someone to come alongside and strengthen them, the church sent Barnabas (Acts 11).
Fund the mission. Vouch for the sent ones. Come alongside and encourage. That's the whole Barnabas résumé — and it's exactly what a Missionary Advocate does.
You may think, "I'm just the one who gives a little and prays." Scripture has a name for that person. You're a Barnabas — and the mission doesn't go without you.
