The word ally comes from the Latin alligare — meaning to bind toward. It shares its root — ligare — with one of the most important words in human history: Religion. The early church father Lactantius described religion as religare — to bind back to God. Same root. Same binding.

You Are the Ligament
Ligare also gives us the word ligament — the tissue in your body that binds bones together. Without ligaments the body collapses. Paul knew this — in 1 Corinthians 12 he describes the church as a body — every part bound to every other part — each one essential.
Your missionaries on the field are strong, called, and positioned — but without Allies binding them to the body they are isolated, unsupported, and vulnerable.
You are the ligament.
